Meet The Team
Children's Ministry Coordinator
A graduate of Alcoa High School and the University of Tennessee, Kate Keylon loves being part of the Blount County Community. And she loves working with kiddos! She has spent the last decade volunteering or working in church children's ministries. Besides ministering to children and families at MUMC, Kate is also the director of Dara's Garden, an event venue in South Knoxville, which she credits for her love of celebrations and flowers.
Kate adores her husband Steven, a member of the Air National Guard, and their 3 pups, Spunky, Daisy, & Millie. She struggles to sit still, loves any cause for celebration, and her to-be-read list is a mile long. Walking, journaling, and gardening are her favorite ways to pray. She is (oh!) so grateful to know and follow Christ--and for the joy He brings to all life's circumstances.
Favorite books include Little Women, The Essential Enneagram, Little House on the Prairie, The Hobbit, & the Hollow Kingdom Trilogy.
Praise Team Leader
Justin has been a member of MUMC for over 10 years and has served in the music program in some form or fashion for the last 9. His wife Megan has been a member of the church her entire life. They have a son (8) and a daughter (6) that keep them hopping as well as the rest of the church family.
Justin is involved in all types of music! Besides playing for the praise and worship service at MUMC, Justin also finds time to play music with his bluegrass band as well as an old time country and western band, coach baseball, and be president of a local commercial construction company.
“It is a great honor to get to be part of the team that leads the music each Sunday at MUMC. There is nothing better than playing music that honors God.”
Whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the lord jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him.
Melinda grew up at Middlesettlements Church and has been a member here for most of her life. She has been involved in the music program in one capacity or another for over forty years.
Having retired from teaching in the Blount County School system, she now enjoys spending time with her grandson, Liam.
A proficient pianist, Robby has done music for most of his life and enjoys it more than anything. He attends MUMC with his father (Robby III) and sister (Jessie).
An old soul, Robby's favorite songs of praise include It Is Well, How Great Thou Art, and When We All Get to Heaven. He's a graduate of Maryville High School, student at Maryville College, and lover of bacon and Krispy Kreme doughnuts - but only when they're *hot now*.
Youth Ministry Coordinator
Along with our team of youth parents and volunteers, Jason joins us in the ministry of student discipleship here at MUMC. A seasoned youth pastor, conference speaker, and Christian event planner, Jason has spent the first 10 years of his ministry leading students and the last 15 years as an evangelist (which he'll continue to do as he serves with us). He is an ordained elder in the UMC with degrees from Hiwassee College, the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. Jason and his wife Holly have three teenage children.
A member of Middlesettlements for almost 40 years, Joyce as been the church secretary for almost as long: 37 years! She has also served as church secretary at several of our sister UMC churches, including Fairview UMC for 14 years before her retirement in 2007. At MUMC, Joyce serves as UMW President, Memorial Secretary, and Membership Secretary.
With her late husband Jim, Joyce has 2 children: Eric, employed at AT&T, and Karen, a teacher at Middlesettlements Elementary School. She has great pleasure in her 7 grandchildren: Jordan, Anna, Blake, Wesley, Andrew, Amelia, & Grant.
"Through the valleys, the mountain tops, good times, bad times of my life, I still know that God is good -- all the time God is good. He is still in charge."
A Blount County native, Magan is a graduate of Alcoa High School, Belmont University, and Duke Divinity School. She's thrilled to be a wife to Jason, mom to Thomas and John, and pastor at Middlesettlements. She battles piles of dirty laundry, makes lists with no intention of following them, loves reading, hates cooking, and has found following Jesus to be the most daring and joyous thing she's ever done.
Favorite authors: Sally Lloyd-Jones, N.T. Wright, and Richard Scarry.
Worship Ministry Coordinator
David has spent the last twenty years in Christian ministry, currently with Emerald Youth Foundation and previously as a general manager in Christian Radio. He attends MUMC with his wife JJ, a Blount County Kindergarten teacher. They have two boys whose sports, performances, antics, and service projects keep them busy and proud.
A UT fan (and graduate), David is also a board member for a Maryville baseball/softball facility. If he isn't at church, you'll find him at a baseball field, golf course, or tinkering as a handyman. He enjoys finding unique food options around town, which is probably a good explanation why "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" is his favorite show!
